History  of  Urduja Elementary School

 

"If there's a will, there's a way" so goes the saying.There is truth in this because of the way Urduja Elementary School came into being.

This school is situated in Urduja Village with an area of 9,874 meters, formerly called Zabarte Subdivision. This was part of the land donated by the PHHC to the city government through

the  Zabarte Housing Project.

 

And so, through the representations of former City Superintendent of Schools Dr. Modesta  G. Boquerin and then president of Urduja Village Association Atty. N.C. Mendoza, a request for an immediate construction of Marcos type pre-fabricated school units early 1971.This was in anticipation of enrollment increase for each grade level. While waiting for the approval of their request, the  school children were housed in the community chapel but were discouraged by the same Dr. Boquiren. As the chairman and superintendent, she requested the village association officers to assist the school officials in the  district in securing and renting a building for classroom purposes This was in May 26, 1971 and the homeowner's president was the same Atty.Mendoza. After persistent requests, the construction of school houses was realized.
